An interesting idea to create a 600-cube version based on the popular Matchless G80 500 GS (Competition Scrambles) came to the heads of non-Matchless engineers, and Californian dealer Garry D. Wilson.
Wilson took over the entire development. He created a kit for a single-cylinder engine G80, to increase the working volume from 500 to 600 cm3. Included was a cylinder bored out of 6.5 mm, a new piston, a new connecting rod (piston stroke +3 mm). The compression ratio also increased. The kit was very successful. Wilson sold more than 40, which caught the attention of Matchless. The development of the American decided to integrate into the production model of the Matchless G80 TCS Typhoon (Typhoon Competition Scrambles). This is reported by MotoNews.com.ua.
