This 2001 example here is basically a $4000 time machine. The Erion Edition graphics were a factory option that paid homage to Kevin Erion and his race team that won a few AMA championships and fielded riders like Kurtis Roberts and Nicky Hayden. As far as this particular bike is concerned, the owner has kept it as close to stock as he could while adding (or keeping) as many period-correct parts as he could. Even the rear sprocket looks to be an OEM piece.
Well-balanced, fun to ride, comfortable (by today’s standards), and still really fast, this CBR929RR seems like a steal for only $4000. See the full ad below.
I have brought this bike back to as close to OEM while keeping what was good on it when I purchased it. It is lovely.
Two-Brothers Headers and a genuine Erion race shop silencer (not the OEM option, the real deal)
Erion drop-in cams (Supposedly…I was told but not worth digging in to find out for sure.)
Power Commander 3 Airbox flap and exhaust servo removed and bypassed properly with a servo-buddy.
Front brake calipers & master cylinder disassembled, cleaned, seals replaced. New Vesrah pads installed.
Has a few blemishes commensurate with a bike this age. Runs great and rides like a Superbike for the road should ride.
