No longer much of a secret, Ducati officially announced earlier today that Marc Marquez will join the Factory team on a two-year contract. He will be a teammate of current champion Pecco Bagnaia, as Enea Bastianini will leave Ducati at the end of this year to join the GASGAS team in 2025.
Aprilia has announced that current MotoGP points leader Jorge Martin has signed a multi-year agreement to leave Pramac Ducati and join the Aprilia Factory MotoGP squad next year. It is now expected that Ducati will announce Marc Marquez as the Factory teammate of Pecco Bagnaia beginning next year.
Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) had a near perfect weekend at the Mugello circuit. After qualifying in second position, he went on to win both the Sprint on Saturday and the feature Race on Sunday.
While the 2,000cc Big Boxer engine is already featured in several BMW production models, it now shows up in a new concept called the R 20. The minimalist design strips unnecessary components to force even more attention to the giant motor propelling the relatively lightweight machine.
The Catalunya round of the MotoGP series in Barcelona last weekend saw impressive performances from hometown boy Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia). Espargaro won the Sprint race on Saturday and finished fourth in Sunday’s full GP after a close-fought battle with Marc Marquez (Ducati) for the final spot on the podium.
