Motorcycle Harley-Davidson XR1000 1983

As it became known MotoNews.com.ua, Willie G. Davidson, having bought back the family brand, put forward the idea of producing a motorcycle with an engine developed on the basis of the XR, and the chassis Sportster.

The XR itself proved to be an extremely successful racing motorcycle.

A few years before, Willie had designed a stylish Harley-Davidson XR1000 XLCR Cafe Racer motorcycle, but the model was boring. The new project turned out completely different. The 1000cc engine was assembled using modified XLX Sportster and XR750 parts. This is reported by MotoNews.com.ua.

The result was a Harley-Davidson XR1000.

The motorcycle is equipped with Dell’Orto 36 mm carburetors, K & N filters, elegant exhaust with two straight channels. The engine produces 70 hp. at 5600 rpm and 65 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm, which is transmitted to the rear wheel through a multi-plate clutch and 4-speed gearbox. In addition, the bike was equipped with an electric starter with a button on the steering wheel.

At 1/4 mile, the Harley-Davidson XR1000 accelerated to 160 km / h in 12 seconds. Many were attracted by the cool and rich sound. In 1983, released about 1000 units, and in 1984 - 700.
